Embark on a journey along the south coast, through the charming Vila Franca do Campo and its picturesque islet, en route to Furnas! The Grená Park, a less visited private park, but with a unique trail offer, is situated near the stunning Furnas Lagoon and the perfect destination for hiking enthusiasts. It offers a trail network of approximately 10 kms, showcasing rare natural beauty and stunning views. Along the paths, we will feel the harmonious interplay between the lush nature and the soothing sounds of waterfalls, all in sync with the surrounding landscape. Expect a well maintained trail path, with some wooden stair climbs and gravel tracks. The highlight of the park is the graceful "Salto da Inglesa" waterfall, the tallest on this Island. On a hot summer day, you can take a dive on its clear waters; on a foggy winter day, you can warm up on the hot jaccuzis. After the hike, you will recharge with one of the island's most iconic culinary traditions: the "Cozido das Furnas" which is a unique stew, prepared in the natural fumarole pits. This traditional dish is slowly cooked by volcanic heat, imparting a unique flavor, a once in a lifetime experience. After lunch, we will continue the visit at "Pico do Ferro" viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the entire Furnas volcanic crater. To finish off this spectacular day, we'll embark on the serene trail around the mystic Lagoa do Congro, located within the island's youngest volcanic crater. Undoubtedly, a gem sculpted by nature. The combination of nature, volcanism, and gastronomy makes this activity an unmissable option for those seeking to explore São Miguel's wonders authentically and thrillingly.
