Get ready for the most unique multi-experience day with us in Porto Formoso, São Miguel! This hiking trail activity blends the natural beauty of the island's north coast with a rich cultural and historical backdrop. We start our hike in the fishing village of Porto Formoso, along wide dirt paths that follow along the coast, where you'll be treated to stunning views of the ocean, mountains and lush vegetation. During this trail, we'll stop at several magnificent viewpoints facing the abrupt north shoreline, bringing us towards a steep descend where we can encounter some muddy sections, that will take us to the seaside ruins of a thermal bath full of ancient stories. Next, we'll head to a beautiful waterfall, where crystal-clear water cascades in an idyllic setting, and where you will experience a once in a lifetime mother-nature gift while enjoying our local regional picnic. After this refreshing break, we'll drive for a few minutes and reach the Gorreana Tea Factory for a guided visit of the manufacturing complex, the fist one in Europe with many historic interesting facts, since its opening in1883! Here, we'll take a short trail through the tea plantations, passing by two beautiful waterfalls. After this exploration, we'll enter the factory premises, where you'll have the chance to taste locally produced teas while enjoying the beautiful view over the vast Atlantic Ocean. To wrap up, we'll stroll through the historic tea plantations, soaking in the tranquility and beauty of this unique landscape.
